Analyze and Visualize Data for Black History Month Project #44
Comments
Hi there! I'd like to collaborate on this project and provide visualizations using the datasets gathered. I do this type of work on a daily basis back at my company. I have access to Power BI and R. Is there a preference for any sort of tool? Likewise, is there a timeline for deliverables? Thank you! |
Amazing! Thank you! No, no preference for any tool. Since this was a project posted last year for Black History Month, there is no specific ask from any partner, so there is also no timeline, except that the theme is Black History Month, so it would be great to have the visualizations for Black History Month. If you do decide to take this task on, then I will put you in direct contact with our partners who would be interested in these visualizations. Thanks!
Patrick

@pato1974 Happy to help on the visualizations front as well. |
Great! This could be a good project to get feet wet. Down the road, we will definitively have more visualization projects of existing data of workplace raids by ICE. This would be a good starting point.

I've been looking for a project to get my feet wet in this community. I have data analysis experience in Pandas and Data Viz experience in Tableau, Power BI, and more recent experience in Python's data viz libraries (matplotlib, seaborn, plotly)
@OrlandoGonzalez<https://github.com/OrlandoGonzalez> , let me know how we can collab on this!

Hi @OrlandoGonzalez @Andre-Bravo ! Were you two ever able to connect to do something for this project? |
Hi! We have been collaborating, however, we have yet to find a useful data set to use for visualizations. We will keep on trying.

After some datasets have been collected (see #43) and uploaded to the Black History Month project page (which is here) or to this project page, we need to analyze and visualize the data to help tell stories. This is an open ended issue, whatever you think might be a compelling or interesting story to tell would be great!
