When a user runs Kontakt 6 standalone (kontakt.exe) for the very first time they are presented with an option to select their audio interface. If the user selects an audio interface that is not supported by Kontakt, then Kontakt instruments load in a very weird state.
For comparison
bad state
good state
Now if I make that mistake the very first time I use DawDreamer with open_editor() then Kontakt will never ask me again.
I can reproduce the issue outside of DawDreamer with the following steps:
Delete the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments\Kontakt Application (optionally take a backup)
Run Kontakt 6 standalone executable
Choose an incompatible audio interface (usually the default option)
❌ bad option
Load any instrument and have the UI be unusable.
Close Kontakt.
Do step 1 and 2 again to reset the Kontakt settings.
This time select a compatible audio interface (for me that's ASIO -> some interface) when prompted
✅ good option
8. Load any instrument and kontakt is fine.
However DawDreamer seems to hold on to the bad state forever despite resetting everything and I haven't figured out why.
The result of all this is that I can't setup my instruments when I want to create new dawdreamer state files.
Is there a way to tell DawDreamer that whatever it remembers about Kontakt it has to forget so I can choose the right audio-interface?
DawDreamer 0.7.1
Windows 11 (Build 22621)
Python 3.11.4
